It’s amazing how this delicious dish requires only 5 ingredients yet packs so much flavor and texture in each slice. Such a simple recipe to follow with 4 easy steps that come together quickly. This makes for a great dinner on those busy weeknights and can be your go-to recipe to feed friends and family if short on time.

Why this Recipe Works

This easy dinner recipe is the perfect alternative to tacos or fajitas to make on your next Taco Tuesday dinner night with friends and family.

The entire family loves this bake and I think it goes well with other taco-inspired dishes like Slow Cooker Pork Carnitas or a big bowl of Taco Soup.

Another fun twist to taco night is my Taco Pasta Skillet it’s always a huge hit! This can be served as a meal on its own. Or serve this with a side of tortilla chips, Homemade Refried Beans, or Mexican Corn Salad for a tasty meal.

Let’s Gather The Ingredients

  • Ground beef: I use ground beef but you can certainly use ground turkey or chicken.
  • Taco seasoning: You can use prepackaged taco season or make a homemade version like this one from Pioneer Woman.
  • Salsa: I recommend using jarred salsa as it is let watery as fresh salsa.

How To Make Crescent Roll Taco Bake

  • Step 1: Add ground beef to a large skillet and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • Step 2: Pour the jar of salsa along with the taco seasoning into the ground beef skillet and use a wooden spoon to stir and let it simmer.
  • Step 3: Prep the baking dish by spraying with nonstick cooking spray. Then open a can of crescent dough and press the dough into the bottom of your baking dish. Carefully press the seams of the dough together.
  • Step 4: Spoon the meat mixture on top of the dough and cover with the shredded cheese. Bake until the crust is golden brown. Serve and enjoy!

Recipe Tips

  • Instead of ground beef use ground turkey or even ground chicken.
  • If you like your crust crispier bake just the crescent roll for 4-5 minutes then add the meat and cheese and continue baking.
  • You can also use the full-sheet crescent rolls.
  • I recommend using jarred salsa, It’s thicker than fresh salsa.

What toppings should I add?

  • Shredded lettuce
  • Diced tomatoes or pico de gallo
  • Black olives
  • Green chiles or a can of Rotel
  • Sliced jalapenos
  • Sour cream
