Ingredients
- 8 tablespoons butter
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 10 ounce package Werther’s soft caramels *see notes
- 10 ounces mini marshmallows
- 1Â can sweetened condensed milk
- 14 cups 18 ounce box rice Krispie cereal see notes
Instructions
- Unwrap each caramel and set aside, spray a 9x 13 baking dish with cooking spray.
- Heat a large pot (at least a 5-6 qt) on medium-low heat and the butter and salt, let it start to melt, then add in the caramels and let them melt on low, stirring constantly until the caramels are melted.
- Add in the marshmallows and sweetened condensed milk and keep stirring until melted.
- Add in the 1/2 of the rice Krispies stir, then add in the remaining Rice Krispies.
- Spread the mixture into the baking dish and flatten out. It helps to spray the back of a spatula or wooden spoon to spread out the sticky mixture.
- Allow to cool and set up for at least 15 minutes before cutting. Enjoy!
Notes
You will get 11 cups out of 1 (12-ounce) box of Rice Krispies. So you will need 2 boxes or 1 (18-ounce) box.
Caramel bits can also be used instead of Werther’s caramels.
Ensure your pan is on low heat and keep an eye on it so it doesn’t burn.
You can also use about 40 large marshmallows instead of the mini.
Store: Cover your dish with plastic wrap and store at room temperature. Placing them in the refrigerator can make them too hard.
