
Ingredients
- 3 ripe tomatoes
- 250g (9 oz) fresh mozzarella
- Fresh basil leaves
- 2 tbsp (30ml) extra virgin olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional: balsamic glaze
Instructions
- Slice tomatoes and mozzarella into even rounds.
- Layer on a plate, alternating slices of tomato and mozzarella.
- Add basil leaves between slices.
- Drizzle olive oil over the salad.
- Season with salt and pepper, and optional balsamic glaze.
- Serve immediately at room temperature.
Notes
Use ripe, in-season tomatoes for the best flavor.
Fresh mozzarella makes a big difference—avoid shredded or low-moisture types.
Add a few drops of balsamic vinegar or glaze if you like a sweet-tangy touch.
For a twist, try adding avocado, grilled peaches, or a few olives.
